1. What is Kurrent?
Event Store – the company and the product – are rebranding as Kurrent.
The Kurrent event-native data platform feeds real-time, business-critical data with historical context in fine-grained streams from origination to destination, enhancing application development, data analytics and AI outcomes.
Kurrent was developed to allow companies to originate data and/or aggregate data from other sources, and curate it, while also maintaining its integrity in an immutable log and persistent data store. Kurrent delivers fine-grained streams of event data to the exact point of need, so businesses can serve their downstream use cases in real-time with unmatched precision.
2. Why is Event Store rebranding at this time?
You can read more about this rebrand and Kurrent's vision for the future in our CEO Kirk Dunn’s blog.
Event Store’s rebrand to Kurrent marks our company’s evolution into a more comprehensive, user-friendly enterprise data platform built for modern needs.
This change goes beyond a new name – it reflects our objectives to simplify deployment, enhance integrations and provide high-fidelity context (the “why” and the “how”) quickly and easily – addressing core challenges data teams face today.
The Kurrent identity represents our commitment to making data in motion accessible and scalable for everything from net-new application development to data analytics and AI/ML use cases.
3. Why “Kurrent”?
Just as electricity transformed how we live and work, data is driving a similar renaissance today. Our name draws inspiration from this parallel.
The electrical revolution began with power generation, but its true impact came from distribution – bringing this vital resource to homes, businesses, transportation, and communication networks. Today, electricity is woven into the fabric of modern life. The ability to natively both store and stream what happens — as events — is unique to Kurrent.
We see data following the same transformative path. It's the current and currency that powers our real-time digital world, flowing through every aspect of business and daily life. Kurrent puts the fidelity of data front and center, from origination to distribution, much like an electrical grid. Our name reflects this vision of data as the powerhouse of modern innovation.
4. When will the rebrand take effect?
5. Are the company’s products or services changing?
The fundamental technology and offerings of Event Store remain the same. As Kurrent, we will continue to innovate both our existing products and new products according to our product roadmap.
In terms of user experience, all currently available versions of EventStoreDB will retain the Event Store branding. All future versions of the core product (KurrentDB) will have the new branding. Event Store Cloud customers can expect to see incremental cosmetic changes to the management console over the next several weeks. We will do our best to minimize any impact to our customers during this process.
6. What is happening to Event Store's website and social media?
All Event Store digital properties (website, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, etc.) will fully transition to the new Kurrent brand in December 2024.
